I rarely play the video poker machines at the casinos. Most of the time I play these sitting at the bar after I am done really gambling. It is a cheap way to get free drinks and not loose much, I guess that is why I don’t play them too much, they are a good way to buy time but not really get ahead or behind too much.

When to switch machines

If you have been on a machine and you haven’t been winning anything after the first 6 hands when do you switch machines? I am bad at changing machines if I am not winning. I am always afraid that if I get up and switch that someone will sit down and win a big hand that I could have won.

Hi sometimes ,i find myself playing video poker games,when I’m at the casino. but frankly i dont know much, is there anything good out there for dummies like me? . How to maximize value of pocket aces?

My strategy of playing pocket aces. I mostly play tourneys and sng. chips start at 1500 on full tilt. no superturbo. only turbo and slow-blind structure.

early position. i limp in if i can sense that someone will raise. If someone raises, I reraise 5 times their raise plus every raise for every callers. If re-raise will put up more than half of my chip stack, i just all in. If I can’t get a raise and flop opens and there’s 2 or more other people in the game, then I plan to fold unless I hit a monster hand, which will make my hand in fully disguise.

middle/late position, i raise 10 times the blind plus every blind for callers if it’s early stage. i raise 5 times the blind plus every blind for callers during middle/late stage. If there’s raise in front of me, I reraise 10 times their raise plus every raise for every callers in early stage of tourney. I reraise 5 times their raise plus every raise for every callers. If reraise puts up more than half of my chip stack, i push all in.

special cases.
game just started and i got dealt pocket aces. I just go all in. believe it or not, 3/5 times, someone will call bcz they think i’m fooling around.

if i am big blind and i see lot of limpers/callers, i just put up half of my chip stack or all in. Iin late stage, when blinds are big, i just all in. i try to make people think i am fooling around just to steal blinds and pot.

This is my way of playing pocket aces. Anybody want to pinpoint my weaknesses and flaws of this method? Some of my friends say it’s a good strategy. Some say I’m being too aggressive and not maximizing my aces enough. I’m a beginner. anybody want to share some advice?

I know that many people find it hard to try for a flush or straight when they have a pair dealt to them, but if you want to win big you have to put the odds in your favor sometimes. I think this is the only way to play these machines.
